The Solterra Landscape Committee Needs Your Help!!

Cattails are growing in areas that are too wet.  This is the result of leaks in the irrigation, sump pump discharge, hot tub, and fountain leaks coming off homeowner’s  properties.  Our Solterra declaration of covenants state that discharge of water may not drain from residents property to FRMD property.   For most of us that line means the fenceline.  Please check that you are not responsible for any of the above reasons and correct them as soon as possible.

Two invasive grasses, Dwarf Fountain Grass and Pampas Grass are reseeding in the community turf, as well as the native areas.  They are resistant to weed killer, and the root systems are deep and extensive.  The expense to dig them out of the turf has become prohibitive.  Schultz will continue to mow the turf in the early fall.  The invasive grasses go to seed late summer, early fall.  Pictures are enclosed of the two grasses.   Most of them are prolific re-seeders!  Evidence of this can be seen along the lower tributary where the tall pampas grass is taking over.  The committee asks that you consider eliminating these two grasses from your yard permanently.

The landscape committee would like to re-seed some of our native areas but until these issues are resolved, those areas will quickly become a problem again.  Mitigation is costly!  Thank you for your time and help in our attempt to keep Solterra beautiful!
